“The National Visa Center keeps asking for the same documents. I submitted all the docs, with the I-130 which is approved. What’s going on at the NVC?”

A couple of things could be at play here with the National Visa Center stage. They recently switched over to electronic document processing, which means you have to scan and upload the documents. We’ve had experience with this here at RapidVisa, and if your format is not exactly correct they reject the documents.

If it’s something that the NVC actually received and then they are requesting it, that could mean that there is a problem with the actual document you submitted. For example, a lot of birth certificates from foreign countries are called “short forms” meaning they do not have the parents’ names listed or the names of both parents, but on a birth certificate you have to submit the “long-form.” However, make sure you check that you sent the correct document, and not the wrong one by mistake. Most RFEs are about the wrong document being sent, and sending the correct document helps resolve the issue.

For that reason, it’s important to see what the actual RFE is requesting. Usually, they’ll have a detailed checklist of everything you’ll need. USCIS and NVC will follow the set standards and you can use the reciprocity schedule on the State Department website to make sure that you are sending the documents they accept.
