What’s the Adjustment of Status Cost in 2018?

02 Mar 2018

This is one of our frequently asked questions that we get on a daily basis. “What are the costs of the adjustment of status in 2018?”

The USCIS filing fee of the adjustment of status at the moment is at $1,140 plus an $85 biometrics fee, which gives you a total of $1,225. That includes your USCIS filing when you mail out your petition to the government along with the biometrics fee that you will need to do your fingerprints.

If you, the applicant came in on either a student visa or a visa waver or something besides a K1, then they do have an additional fee of $535 for the I-130 form that also goes along with your adjustment of status. The RapidVisa fee would be $400 and an additional optional $100 for the premium review for a total of $500. The Premium Review is always recommended because we review everything in person for you to verify that you are sending the correct documents and your petition is being sent out correctly. So, it’s definitely the way to go on that one.

As far as the total cost, again, it depends on your situation, but just as an estimate you’re probably looking at anywhere from $1,900 to $2,600. Depending on whether or not you came in on a K1 fiance visa or if you came here on a tourist visa. Whether or not you have the I-130 filing fee and then the only other fee that I can think of that you’ll have with adjustment of status is the medical exam through a local civil surgeon and that’s usually around $300 or $400. Now, to get the exact cost on the civil surgeon fees, you would need to contact them directly and you can call us and we can give you the link to find a civil surgeon in your local area.
